Data Transmission

In computer technology, data transmission relates to sending streams measured in bits or bytes to a different location. The act may call for a number of different mediums such as a laser, copper wire, radio, or optical fiber. A prime example of data transmission would be sending files contained in a hard drive to the folders of a server, and then to the user’s web browser.

Data transmission protocol is a concept that allows the content to be legible following transmission. The protocol tends to work best with packeted forms of communication.

There are several examples of data transmission:

Serial Transmission - In this scenario, bits are individually transmitted over a single wire. The single bit method makes for a faster procedure.

Parallel Transmission - This scenario makes use of multiple wires that have the ability to transmit several bits for a faster transmission than can be attainted with Serial Transmission.
